Supply chains
You do not need this to start. A supply chain is what a business becomes once you run more than one: the output of one is the input of the next, so the second link costs less per unit than buying at the supplier and the whole chain earns more than the sum of its shops.
Every chain below is derived from the recipe registry — the same recipes the server settles. Nothing here is a suggested diagram.
The bread chain, end to end

Sold at the counter by Shop. Each arrow is an input the later business buys: the bakery’s flour is the mill’s output, so opening the mill makes the bakery cheaper to run.
Bought in rather than made: Seed. These have no producing business, so the supplier is the only source.
Every chain on the street
Ordered from the raw input to the counter. A chain you complete is worth more than the same businesses run separately, because every link you own removes a supplier price from the one below it.
